Trista Soendker Nicholson, Senior Pastor
, ordained in 2012, Rev. Trista Soendker Nicholson has lived out her calling as she has preached,
presided over baptisms and communion, and led ministry teams. She is passionate about mission, service, and sharing the love and grace of God with others,
and has implemented unique connection opportunities to reach those who feel unwelcome in church. She also enjoys helping people discover and cultivate their
own gifts as they seek to serve the world. Trista has dedicated her time to working with the people in Haiti, and has led mission teams to the country at
least once a year to provide hygiene trainings and install life-giving water filters. In 2015, she was awarded the Martha Wright Griffiths’
Emerging Leader Award awarded from the University of Missouri for her work for the betterment of women around the world.
Prior to becoming a pastor, Trista worked on Capitol Hill and held other positions in the political arena. While in Washington, Trista worked with homeless
individuals who were seeking job placement and permanent homes, and coordinated an ongoing feeding program. In addition to completing her undergraduate work
at Mizzou, Trista earned her MSA from Trinity University, and her MDiv from Saint Paul School of Theology, where she was awarded The Roy M. Brady Award for
preaching. She served as the solo pastor for New Horizons UMC while completing seminary, as an Associate at Missouri UMC, and was appointed to Red Bridge UMC
in July of 2016. Trista and her husband, Sean, have two sons, Judah and Abram, and a black lab/basset mix, Casey. They are all Royals fans.
, Associate Pastor & Director of Youth Ministries
, joined the staff in August, 2009, but has been a member of
Red Bridge UMC since 1998. Terry has a B.S. in Speech/Theater Education from CMSU and M.A. in Reading Education from UMKC. Terry is a local
licensed pastor in the United Methodist Church. She and her husband Kevin have a son, Kyle.
, Childcare Coordinator
, joined the staff in November 2004. Bethany Scheppele has been a member of RBUMC since
1989. She has a B.S. in Elementary Education from Emporia State university and an M.A. in Educational Technology from MidAmerican Nazarene
University. Bethany is a teacher in the Grandview School District. She is married and has four daughters.
, Director Of Music & Office Administrator
, joined the staff in 2010. He has a B.M. in music
from UMKC. Bill owns the Southland Conservatory of Music located in Raymore and Harrisonville. In addition he teaches music and is a song
writer. He and his wife Stacy have triplets born in 2007, one son and two daughters, Dean, Tristan, and Madison.
, Director of the Early Childhood Center
, joined the staff in August 2005. She is a 1991 graduate of Vanderbilt
University and holds a BS in Elementary and Early Childhood Education. Leslie has over 12 years of experience in the teaching field and
resides in Leawood with her sons, Connor and Tyler.
, Originally from Kansas City, MO, Karen has fond memories of going to Sunday School and church at North Cross UMC while she was in elementary school. After her family was transferred to Washington, DC, Karen grew up in the Maryland suburbs and was confirmed at Rockville UMC, where she was active in the choirs and began to study organ.
Karen holds a B.S. degree from Vanderbilt University, where she studied both languages and music. From there she moved to Dallas, Texas, where she earned her Master’s Degree in Sacred Music from Perkins School of Theology (at Southern Methodist University).
Since then, she has served as Music Director and/or Organist at a variety of churches in both St. Louis and Kansas City, and is excited to find herself returning once again to the Kansas City area and joining the staff at Red Bridge. When she is not practicing piano or organ, she loves to dabble in gardening and enjoys spending time with her family. Her husband is Keith Morgan, the newly appointed pastor to Country Club UMC, and together they have two children: Bryant, who lives in St. Louis (just married to Katie last weekend), and Nicole, who lives in Santa Fe, NM.
